fruits and vegetables
Whereas the citizens of this country want more control in what they eat and what they feed to their families,

Whereas obesity and diabetes are now a national epidemic causing dire health conditions for adults and children, costing our economy billions of dollars,

Whereas in many low-income communities healthy food options are not readily available,

Whereas an alternative to welfare and food stamps could be jobs and opportunities in urban agriculture.

Therefore,

The Grow America Garden Act

» We make America greener by being our own caretakers.

» We educate our school children on human nutrition and plant nutrition side by side.

» We educate all our local, community participants through Cooperative Extension Master Gardener programs.  They’re available in every county of every state. The infrastructure is already in place.

» We use more available lots in our city and towns to create more community growing space.

» We build greenhouses and artificial light indoor gardens in colder environments.

» We initiate a national people’s buy and sell network for homegrown fruits and vegetables. Participants may buy, sell, or swap, among their neighbors. Through this financially shared economy, the local community benefits.

» We invite all community gardens, school gardens, and home gardeners to lead us.
